General Induction Agent in Caesarian Section

Abstract
Propanidid has been used as an induction agent in caeasarian section and normal vaginal delivery with low and mid forceps-In caesarian section, a selected 29 propanidid group (a dose of 400?500mg) was compared with 172 Thiopentone group (a do-se of I75?200mg) and also observed 381 forceps delivery with 400mg propanidid group.
1) There was a low incidence of consci. Ousness, awake or movement to the mother side during the first part of the operation and very little degree of respiratory depression
to the baby side of the propanidid induced group than the thiopentone group-
2) 1?D (Inductionto delivery) time (ave rage 7 to 20 minutes) is slightly longer
than the optimal 1?D time `range from 121 -15 minutes.
3) D?C (Delivery to first crying) time was not significant difference each group.
However. 1 of 29 infant (propanidid group) was depressed and resusccitated compared with 4 of 172 in the thiopentone group.
4) From the view point of the above investigation, propanidid is switable as an induction agent of general anesthesia for caesarian section and veginal forceps deli-very. Furthermore It has a pleasant induction for the mother side and a very little respiratory depression effect on the infant.
